Mt Lofty Botanical Gardens
Back to GREAT HILLS PICNIC SPOTS index
One of Adelaide Hills little secrets is the outstanding Mt Lofty Botanical Gardens nestled in the hills behind Crafers (take the Summit Road and follow the signs).
These gardens, with their rich displays of rhododendrons, magnolias and camellias are best seen in spring although they are still impressive all year round. There is a wonderful mixture of European and Australian native plants with the main highlights being Fern Gully and the Woodland Garden.
The Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens are within an easy walk from the lower carpark off Lampert Road at Piccadilly and are open from 8.30am to 4.00pm on weekdays and from 10.00am to 5.00pm on weekends.
