Nairne is an interesting township with a population of around 2,500 people in the Adelaide Hills.Just 42 km from Adelaide, 8 km from Mt Barker and 12 km from Hahndorf, Nairne is the best keptsecret in South Australia!
At the time of white settlement, the Permangk people inhabited the area. One special place tothe Permangk is the Mount Barker Summit, and we are fortunate in Nairneto have the craggy summit looking over our valley, and peeking through the mist on a crisp winter's day. Nairne was founded by Matthew Smillie in 1839, and named after his wife, Elizabeth Nairne. The village now hosts a fine array of gift shops, antique stores, and eateries.
